Tort Tax and COVID-19

Dear Editor,

I own a small cleaning business in Pensacola, and the COVID-19 pandemic has hit us harder than most. Due to the nature of our work, we must be very cautious when it comes the safety of our staff and clients.  Fortunately, thanks to Senator Doug Broxson and our state house members, we are now protected from COVID-19-related liability. We are doing everything we can to operate safely, while keeping our business afloat and clients happy, but before this past legislative session, we were still vulnerable to lawsuits that could shut us down. Seems like we have an opportunity now to follow up with some other good measures.  I read a report the other day that we pay an annual tort tax in this state in the hundreds of millions of dollars.  We need to stop suing each other and get back to work.  I urge the senator and our legislature to follow back up with more action.
