Progressive Hardy Turns on Moderate Democrats, Slams Sen. Sinema Over Infrastructure Bill

Florida state Rep. Omari Hardy (D), arguably one of the most progressive members of the Florida House of Representatives, is vying for a congressional seat in the upcoming 2022 midterm election. In his campaign for congress, the Florida lawmaker has also voiced his support for President Joe Biden’s (D) infrastructure bill. However, the support comes at a time when Democrats are facing infighting over favorable votes on the bill. While Senator Joe Manchin (D) has received criticism over his opposition to the bill, Hardy has now criticized Arizona Senator Kyrsten Sinema (D).

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D) delayed the House vote on the infrastructure bill over a number of Democrats voicing their opposition to the bill. In response, Senator Sinema shared her disappointment over the delay, calling it “inexcusable and deeply disappointing for communities across our country.” However, Sinema has faced criticism along with Democrats like Manchin over wanting a lower spending bill.

On social media, state Rep. Hardy responded to a video of Senator Sinema being followed into the bathroom by protestors who scolded the Arizona Democrat over the infrastructure bill and over immigration.

In response to the video, Hardy commented that Sinema “is trying to take food out of the mouths of poor & working-class children,” adding that “she’s trying to block, vision, dental & hearing care for seniors.”

Hardy further expressed that Sinema’s ripping “away the promise of affordable higher ed for students.”

Because of this “, she’s earned this,” he concluded, wishing “Godspeed to these protestors.”

While attending a fundraiser at a Phoenix resort over the weekend, Sinema was further confronted by protestors who spoke with FOX 10 Phoenix station photographers.

Ruth Shea, one of the protestors, commented that “Sen. Sinema is a clown of Arizon’s who’s in the Royal Palms, meeting with fundraiser people, when she’s supposed to be back in D.C., voting on bills, to make America better.”
