Demings Outraises Rubio's Senate Campaign

Share

The senatorial race between incumbent Senator Marco Rubio (R) and Florida Rep. Val Demings (D) is expected to be one of the most closely watched races across the country, not to mention the most expensive.  As it stands, the Rubio campaign has already pointed out that Demings has aggressively fundraised against the South Florida lawmaker, announcing in a message to supporters that “for the past 2 quarters, we lost the fundraising race.”

During the last three months, Demings has raised a staggering $8.4 million, and her campaign is already marking Demings’ candidacy as “the strongest campaign in Florida’s history.”

In speaking of Rep. Demings’ candidacy, Zach Carroll, Demings’ campaign manager, commented that Demings’ campaign is “a campaign that goes everywhere and cedes no ground.” Carroll called it “the strongest campaign in Florida’s history,” adding that “we are reaching out to voters of all political stripes – Democrats, Republicans, and Independents – who know that Marco Rubio is failing to look out for them in Washington.”

Moreover, during a time when Democrats have struggled to maintain a strong presence in voter registration, Carroll shared that the campaign has already contacted numerous voters for support.

“Since announcing in June, our campaign has traveled across the state, from the big cities to small rural towns,” Carroll said, adding that “Demings met with Cuban American leaders in Miami to discuss the crisis in Cuba, campaigned in Tallahassee and small town in North Florida, including with community leaders in Quincy; met with leaders of Florida’s Haitian American community  in Miami to discuss the ongoing violence and political instability in Haiti; met with Mayor Kriseman and other leaders who are on the frontlines in the fight against Red Tide in the Tampa Bay region and traveled to Surfside to pay respects to the victims of the tragic building collapse.”
