Alcee Hastings (D) has spiced up a bit as  Jason Mariner, who is a recovering drug addict and former resident of Florida's prison system has officially launched his campaign in the Republican congressional primary race in Florida's 20th district special election.
Mariner paid the qualifying fee several weeks ago but has been quiet up until now. "Before running for congress, I ran from the law. Like many Americans, I battled addiction and I was locked up and tossed around a broke criminal justice system. But I found God, I found a way out, I began to fight back. I went from being an inmate to a small business owner, and now the father of two young boys living the American dream that all of us as Americans strive to live," states Mariner as he narrates the video.

Mariner is running against Greg Musselwhite in the primary. The winner of this Republican primary race will face off against the winner of a 12 person Democratic primary. Musselwhite has already been pushing the criminal narrative against Mariner and recently deleted or hide a Facebook posting that attacks Mariner.

The special election will be held on January 11, 2022.
