This week, Florida Rep. Michael Waltz (R) introduced a resolution to condemn President Joe Biden (D) over the fall of Afghanistan to the Taliban. Mounting criticism from GOP members has now led to a number of Republicans to call for an official investigation into the President’s withdrawal from the country. One of those proponents is freshman Florida Rep. Carlos Gimenez (R). Gimenez is a member of the House Homeland Security Committee has called the withdrawal “a sign of utter weakness and total incompetence.”
Rep. Waltz has been a sharp critic of the President, introducing a resolution to condemn President Biden while also commenting that he “has embarrassed the United States on the world stage and created the worst foreign policy blunder in our modern history.”
In response to the controversy, Rep. Giemenz introduced a bill that would “direct the Inspector General of the Department of Defense to conduct an investigation into the withdrawal of the United States armed forces from Afghanistan, and for other purposes.”
For the investigation, Gimenez is calling for a number of issues to be analyzed, including “the extent to which, and the reason why, United States Humvees, helicopters, artillery, and drones ended up in the possession of the Taliban,” “the extent to which Afghan forces in possession of United States equipment entered Iran with such equipment,” and “the effectiveness of the evacuation of United States and allied personnel from Afghanistan.”
Biden agreeing to the Taliban’s timetable of withdrawal by August 31 is a sign of utter weakness and total incompetence. He’s letting the Taliban dictate what our military does. Some commander-in-chief… What a disgrace! https://t.co/YdSqGwBS04

On social media, the former Mayor of Miami-Dade County slammed the President, commenting that “Biden agreeing to the Taliban’s timetable of withdrawal by August 31 is a sign of utter weakness and total incompetence.” He added that the President is “letting the Taliban dictate what our military does.” Calling it a “disgrace,” he disregarded the President as “some commander-in-chief” because of his compliance with the Taliban.
