In the midst of coronavirus vaccine controversies, CNN has become one of the latest companies to take a firm stance against unvaccinated Americans. Just this week, CNN terminated unvaccinated employees for simply coming into the office.
CNN has reportedly terminated 3 employees for coming into work without being vaccinated against COVID-19, which goes against the media conglomerate's mandatory vaccination policy for all employees.
The network has not specified who the employees are, or what department the termination occurred in, but an internal memo was released on the issue.
Dated on August 5, 2021, President Jeff Zucker reaffirmed the company's pro-vaccine stance "Everyone from news, sports, and studios who comes in now and going forward must be vaccinated. We have been clear about this for months, so there should be no confusion."
CNN joins other companies such as United Airlines, who have made vaccines mandatory by no later than October 25th or they could be fired, the airline publicly stated Friday.
United Airlines is also reportedly giving employees who show proof of vaccination by September 20th a full additional day of pay, incentivizing their 67,000 U.S.-based employees to get the vaccine.
While some Americans and corporations feel that the vaccine should be compulsory to participate in every facet of life such as travel, attending school, or having a job, Florida Republicans feel differently.
The Floridian spoke with state Rep. Anthony Sabatini (R-32) who stated that vaccination "should always be a personal issue." Adding to Gov. Ron DeSantis' (R-FL) new school policy of allowing parents to decide what is best for their kids.
Recently, however, the White House and Press Secretary Jen Psaki falsely communicated that DeSantis is not allowing kids to wear masks, failing to highlight the "parental choice" element of the governor's plan. DeSantis' Press Secretary Christina Pushaw recently fired back at the White House for their "baseless" claims about the state of Florida.
