In the aftermath of the 2020 election, the January 6th riot on Capitol Hill still remains a relevant issue over 6 months later. Across the nation, political figures from both political parties have denounced the riot and Democrats have used the event as a political pawn. Just this week Congressional hopeful and state Rep. Anthony Sabatini (R-32) has committed to introducing a bill to block Capitol Police from working with law enforcement in Florida.
Sabatini who has fully integrated Trump politics in the platform for his congressional bid recently took to Twitter where he publicly stated "The US Capitol Police needs to stay the Hell out of Florida!" Confirming that he is "currently reviewing legislation that will PROHIBIT any law-enforcement agency in our state from working with them."
The state representative then drew comparisons between US Capitol Police and the Gestapo (Nazis) calling them a "nationalized WOKE Gestapo.":
Rep. Sabatini is currently challenging Rep. Stephanie Murphy (D-FL) who ironically has not only been very critical of those who engaged in the January 6th riot but has also been appointed to the ever-controversial January 6th Commission recently assembled by Congress.
Representative Murphy was early on calling out the actions that day, calling for answers just days after the chaos on Capitol Hill. Now with Sabatini challenging her district, Murphy has capitalized on Sabatini's more than Conservative convictions, calling him "the worst, most extreme, Trump-loving Republican."
Despite the name-calling from the other side of the aisle, Sabatini has managed to center his campaign making "America First Again", truly indicating that Trump politics is all but over in Washington, with a candidate like Anthony Sabatini up for a tight race in District 7.
