This past weekend, former Democratic Congresswoman Debbie Mucarsel-Powell used conspiracy theories to criticize congressional Republicans she accuses of using conspiracies of their own, reiterating that the Republican Party has colluded and “following Putin’s playbook,” among other conspiratorial points.
Mucarsel-Powell ran as centrist Democrat in 2018, but upon being sworn into office, the Ecuadorian-born Miamian made a name for herself while in the U.S. House of Representatives by pressing Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s legislative agenda and by being one of the most outspoken critics of former President Donald Trump.
Mucarsel-Powell led the charge to impeach then-President Trump.
“When I started serving my term in Congress I was excited, willing, ready to work with my Republican colleagues from FL for Floridians on issues related to our environment, health care, good paying jobs, education, affordable housing. BUT, within the first few days I realized,” stated Mucarsel-Powell
DMP, as she is known, then went deep with the conspiracies Republicans have been accused of partaking in.
First, DMP referenced “Putin’s playbook” and that the Republican Party pushes unfounded "Propaganda to influence the public with lies” in particularly their support of Trump’s attacks against “Fake News” media outlets who Republicans accuse of reporting “lies” and “misinformation.”
Following Putin’s playbook, the GOP uses propaganda to influence the public with lies, conspiracies & misinformation. Always attacking mainstream media to sow distrust & stopping at nothing to crush political opponents. DeSantis, Gaetz, Rubio, loyal to Trump tow this line.

“Following Putin’s playbook, the GOP uses propaganda to influence the public with lies, conspiracies & misinformation. Always attacking mainstream media to sow distrust & stopping at nothing to crush political opponents. DeSantis, Gaetz, Rubio, loyal to Trump tow this line,” added Mucarsel-Powell
Republicans have been railing against the media for refusing to fairly report on Trump and on issues that would put Democrats in a bad light, including the Hunter Biden laptop scandal and the ongoing COVID-19 nursing home death cover-up that has embroiled New York Governor Andrew Cuomo.
But now with the recent revelations that CNN was actively creating false narratives to defeat Trump in 2020, and with the CBS “60 Minutes” segment against Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis having been exposed as “fake” after the news outlet pushed a false “pay-to-play” narrative and edited a video clip of DeSantis' response to a question to frame this narrative, DMP’s accusation that Republicans falsely accuse “mainstream media” of bias can be brought into question.
But DMP didn’t stop there.
After the January 6th Capitol riot, Republicans didn’t have much to say, nor was there anything they could defend. The riot was carried out by Right-Wing extremists that made the entire Republican Party look bad, and Democrats like DMP have pounced on this unexpected political gold mine of a narrative.
"One thing is now clear after the 1/6 insurrection, that America has one party trying to destroy our democracy using violence, QAnon conspiracies & Russian talking points (GOP) another working to improve the lives of Americans (Democrats). No more lies #ForThePeople,” concluded Mucarsel-Powell.
DMP’s continued efforts to cast all Republicans or Trump supporters as violent, conspiracy theories that are pushing “Russian talking points” may not hold much water in the coming weeks and months, as congressional Democrats continue to push an extreme Progressive agenda that looks to “change the world,” as Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer famously stated days after the 2020 presidential election.
Democrats are now pushing to pack the U.S. Supreme Court.
Mucarsel-Powell is considering to be a potential candidate for the U.S. Senate in 2022, or possibly considering running for her old congressional seat after redistricting in Florida’s 26th district.
