Jessi Melton defies federal laws she herself wants to pass (Video)

Republican congressional candidate Jessica 'Jessi' Melton has made a name for herself as being a law-abiding and self-proclaimed constitutionalist that wants Floridians to send her to Congress to pass federal laws on their behalf, federal laws that she herself appears to take issue with.

According to the Clerk of the U.S. House of Representatives, congressional candidates like Melton are "required" by law, "Title I of the Ethics in Government Act of 1978, as amended. 5 U.S.C. app. § 101 et seq." to file their financial disclosure report within 30 days of qualifying for their respective congressional races.

Melton recently stated that she received a "threatening" and "bullying" letter directly from House Ethics Committee Chairman Ted Deutch (D), but that claim was quickly debunked as it was uncovered that Melton had received a basic form letter from the Ethics Committee and signed by its director of financial disclosures, not the member of Congress.

Melton received the letter because she refused to file her financial disclosure, and on a podcast with  one of her supporters, Melton, said, “so yeah whatever, I filed it when I felt like filing it, I got other shit I gotta do.”

Melton's primary opponents, Fran Flynn and Darlene Swaffar have all-but dismissed her as being a childish and immature candidate, and in looking at her past postings on social media, the case that both Flynn and Swaffar make against Melton can be made.

Melton was fined for being 5 months late in filing her financial disclosures and has still not filed her 2020 disclosure.

The Jerusalem Post recently highlighted Melton's support for actor Mel Gibson, whose anti-Semitic rantings have been well documented. Melton recently had two opportunities to address the issue and answer why she falsely stated that the Republican Jewish Coalition had endorsed her. Melton has yet to address that mistruth and her false statement that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis had also endorsed her. DeSantis has since dismissed Melton's claim.

James Pruden, the fourth Republican in the race, has yet to comment on Melton's behavior.
