Regardless of what his political opponents, "frenemies," or enemies say about this response to the Coronavirus outbreak in Florida, Gov. Ron DeSantis' response to the pandemic has been stellar, including his controversial push to get those Americans leaving the New York-area for Florida to self-quarantine.
The White House and the Coronavirus Task Force agrees with DeSantis in regards to New York Tri-State residents staying put, and if they do travel, to self-quarantine.
"Anybody traveling from the New York City area to the state of Florida, or has traveled in the last three weeks is going to need to self-isolate, and they're going to need to report the contacts that they've had, any close contacts in the state of Florida," DeSantis said.
Critics like Democratic Reps. Debbie Wasserman Schultz and Ted Deutch have a question is leadership for no closing down all of Florida's beaches let alone the entire state. DeSantis contends that the virus has not spread to all of Florida, so why should there be a mandatory shut down for smaller, less populated counties that don't have any reported cases of the virus.
DeSantis has even been accused of "causing for sickness and death" as a result of his actions, or inactions.
The latest number of cases Florida has reached 2,359 with 29 dead. Broward and Miami-Dade Counties have most cases, but that can be contributed to the number of people living in those two counties.
Look at this map. The dark grey or black counties indicate 'no' cases.
