It appears as if Conservative Republican Rep. Ted Yoho is keeping his promise to constituents and supports and will not seek a fifth term to the U.S. House of Representatives.
Rep. Yoho told The Floridian as early as 2014 that because he was a staunch supporter of term limits for members of Congress, that he would not serve more than four terms.
Yoho, who has been one of President Donald Trump’s staunchest allies in the House, has recently taken down his campaign Twitter account or had it suspended.
Considering that Yoho is all-but-a Boy Scout, it’s a pretty good bet to make that he has taken the account down himself.
If (expected), Yoho does decide to exit Congress, Republicans should rest easy knowing that his rural Florida congressional seat, which the Cook Report considers a “Strong” Republican hold, will stay in the GOP column
Local businesswoman Amy Pope Wells and businessman Judson Sapp are both officially in the Republican congressional primary race to replace Yoho, and could soon welcome the company of Florida National Guard Reservist Lt. Gavin Rollins, who has been eyeing the seat for well over a year.
In addition to Rollins possibly entering the race, Yoho's Dep. Chief of Staff Kat Cammack is expected to jump into the race as well.
Rollins is currently on the Clay County Commission.
Meanwhile, Sapp’s campaign has announced that he raised $100,000 the day he announced his candidacy, and recently hosted Donald Trump, Jr. and Kimberly Guilfoyle at his home in Green Cove Springs, Florida.
