Wasserman Schultz says Epstein's handlers need to be held accountable

When the news broke that serial child molester Jeffrey Epstein committed suicide in his cell, the political world cried foul, some even citing conspiracy theories as to the real cause of his death. 

Epstein, who was reported to have been placed on “suicide watch,” took his life just days after 2,000 a federal court unsealed 2,000 pages of documents from a lawsuit by one of the accusers, Virginia Giuffre.

Both Republican and Democratic members of the U.S. Congress stated that instead of facing his accusers, justice was not served after Epstein took the easy way.

But while Epstein will never have his day in court, what about his accused co-conspirators like Ghislaine Maxwell, his former aide Sarah Kellen, and others who allegedly helped facilitated Epstein’s illicit acts against children?

Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D) is calling for justice against “those who denied” Epstein’s victims “day in court,” and must be “held to account.”

“His victims were denied justice every step the way, including today,” said Wasserman Schultz “This serial pedophile didn’t act alone, and those who denied those survivors a day in court must be held to account. His death doesn't erase their demands for real justice. Congress must not stop pursuing it.”

Wasserman Schultz all-but suggests that those involved in the crimes and subsequent cover-up should also be investigated and brought to justice.

According to The Daily Beast, “Giuffre said in several depositions that Maxwell and Epstein trafficked her to powerful men for sex. In 2016, she said Maxwell specifically instructed her to serve former New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, Britain’s Prince Andrew, wealthy financier Glenn Dubin, former Senate Majority Leader George Mitchell, modeling scout Jean-Luc Brunel, and scientist Marvin Minsky. She also says Maxwell and Epstein directed her to have sex with “another prince,” a "foreign president," a well-known prime minister" and the owner of a “large hotel chain.” None of the men named have been charged with a crime and all have denied inappropriate behavior.”

Florida Senator Rick Scott has already called for an investigation into the alleged suicide.
