For more than a decade, former Republican-turned-Democrat Rep. Charlie Crist has been one of the most prolific, if not the most prolific political fundraisers in the state of Florida.
Crist can raise a lot of campaign dollars, but now he has some stiff competition.
According to the latest Federal Election Commission (FEC), from January 1, 2019- June 30, 2019, Rep. Debbie Mucarsel-Powell is tops in the state among members of Congress and congressional candidates, having raised just under $1.1 million dollars in donations.
Crist raised about $800 million dollars for his congressional reelection campaign, and Orlando-area Rep. Stephanie Murphy (D) raised about $40k less than Crist for hers.
First, it is still very early in the 2020 general election cycle, so there is plenty of time for Crist to regain his throne.
Regardless of who finishing raising the most money during this cycle, Democrats could be on pace of breaking a collective congressional fundraising record.
Here are how Florida’s congressional Democrats rank when it comes to campaign fundraising.
