As the illegal immigration debate and the humanitarian crisis along the U.S. southern border rage on, many Americans are wondering who is to blame for the mass detentions and deportations that continue to occur.

Congressional Democrats like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez believe that illegal aliens are not breaking immigration laws if they are seeking asylum, regardless of whether they enter through a U.S. Port of Entry, or by illegally crossing the border.

President Donald Trump has been criticized for the overall crowded conditions within federal detention centers across the country, and for the recent ICE raids he’s order to track down and deport those aliens who refused to show up to their scheduled asylum court dates.

But while Trump is currently seen as the worst friend to the illegal immigrant community and the lobby that supports them, he’s far from the being the worst.

Do you know who made the following comment on illegal immigration?

Hint: He was labeled the “deporter in chief” by immigration advocacy groups.

"We are a nation of laws. Undocumented workers broke our immigration laws, and I believe that they must be held accountable, especially those who may be dangerous. That’s why over the past six years deportations of criminals are up 80 percent, and that’s why we’re going to keep focusing on threats to our security.”

If you guessed President Barack Obama, you were right.

But while Obama has deported more illegal aliens than Trump, President Bill Clinton bested everyone.

According to an analysis by the Migration Policy Institute, Clinton is the real “deporter in chief.”

  • 12 million deported—Clinton administration
  • 10 million deported –Bush administration
  • 5-6 million deported – Obama administration

The illegal immigration/border issue is, and will remain the hot button issue of the 2020 presidential debate
