A day after Attorney General William Barr testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee about his review of the Mueller report, the House Judiciary Committee held a similar hearing, but Barr didn’t show up.
Barr had notified House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler (D) that he would not in attendance because of a change in rules about who would be questioning him.
Ranking member Rep. Doug Collins (R) called the hearing nothing more than a “circus political stunt,” adding that Democrats wanted the proceeding to look like “impeachment proceedings.”
After Collins yielding back his time, Nadler then proceeded to conclude the meeting, but not before Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz (R) tried to interject his opinion on the matter, but was shut down by Nadler.
"Mr. Chairman, I...Is this how it's going to be, where there is not going to be recognition of members who seek legitimate inquiry as to the proceedures...(mic cut off)- Rep. Matt Gaetz
Gaetz, who was visibly upset after the committee cut-off his microphone in mid-sentence, told The Floridian that "America may never know" what he wanted to ask or comment about.
