Smoke them if you got’em.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis yesterday applauded the Florida Legislature for lifting the ban on smokable medical marijuana, but not after he strong-armed reluctant Republican legislators back in January when he “threatening to drop the state’s appeal of a court decision that found the smoking ban ran afoul of a 2016 constitutional amendment that broadly legalized medical marijuana.”
Newly-elected Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried, a huge proponent of legalizing marijuana for medical use, issued the follow statement after the Florida House voted 101-11 to pass the bill the senate had already passed last week.
“Today’s action to finally allow smokable medical marijuana brings four words to the lips of people across our state: it’s about damn time. I’m thankful for the House and Senate’s work to fix this situation and look forward to the Governor signing this much-needed legislation into law. It’s long past due that the State of Florida honored the will of the people and allowed doctors to determine their patient’s course of treatment.”- Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried
DeSantis specifically thanked Speaker Jose Oliva, Rep. Ray Rodrigues, and Senators Bill Galvano and Jeff Brandes, for their efforts to making it all happen.
