When Gov. Ron DeSantis decided to grant clemency for any Floridian facing charges and fines for disobeying COVID-19 mask mandates, Democrats took issue with the measure saying that DeSantis was rewarding criminals who broke municipal mandates. 

With millions of Americans having received the COVID-19 vaccination, cases of the deadly virus have diminished so much that the Biden administration and state and local officials have begun to reign in restrictions, including mask mandates.

Florida Congresswoman Stephanie Murphy (D) became the latest congressional Democrat to question Florida Governor Ron DeSantis' "leadership" after he stated that he was "opposed to mandates, period" and to any other "lockdowns" that he believes would adversely affect Florida's ailing.
