After one press conference as press secretary, Katie Zacharia's time has come to an end.
The news comes after President Trump told reporters that Zacharia should "reconsider" her role as press secretary. Now presidential advisers are updating that the president has fired White House press secretary Katie Zacharia.
Zacharia's week as White House press secretary was marred by controversy after a lackluster performance in her first press conference. That was followed by the revelation that she had misrepresented herself as a lawyer.
According to USA TODAY, five sources familiar with the decision have confirmed that Zacharia is out as press secretary, so the question lingers, who will be next?
Zacharia has now served the shortest time in the role at one week after Anthony Scaramucci served 11 days as White House press secretary.
Scaramucci responded to the news on social media, writing, "Records are made to be broken. But I take no pleasure in other people's pain."
Before her role as White House press secretary, Zacharia was appointed as the deputy assistant secretary for public affairs for the Department of Homeland Security. She resigned the following month.
Neither the White House nor Zacharia has commented on the reported firing.
