Congressional candidate and former “Orlando Matters” anchor, Ryan Elijah, celebrated his campaign’s fundraising achievement of raising nearly $302,000, touting that his campaign has "raised more money by far than any Republican in the field,” in his bid for Florida’s 7th District (FL CD 7).
“There’s a list of heavy hitters, and certainly, we are proud of some of those names that are on the list – a lot of community leaders, former Speaker of the House – we’re also very pleased with hundreds of grassroots supporters,” Elijah stated, referencing the contributors to his campaign.
Elijah's Prominent Contributors
According to Elijah’s Federal Election Commission (FEC) Form 3, Orlando personal injury attorney and Trump-nominated Ambassador to Colombia, Dan Newlin, donated to the candidate’s bid.
Chairman of Florida’s Transportation Commission and Vice Chair of Eastern Florida State College’s Board of Trustees, Ron Howse, is another prominent figure who has contributed to Elijah’s run for the seat.
The endorsements continue, as former GOP Florida Speaker of the House Steve Crisafulli and former state Senator David Simmons have both endorsed the former FOX News anchor.
According to the FEC Form, Elijah has also contributed to his own campaign, loaning $134,000 to his congressional war chest.
The Power of Trump's Endorsement
The Sanford Republican appears to be prevailing in the race against incumbent Congressman Cory Mills, who has served FL CD 7 since 2023, as campaign finance documents indicate the Congressman has raised less than $60,000 from Apr. to June 2026.
Despite the low amount of campaign funds gained, Rep. Mills still retains President Donald Trump’s endorsement, which has proven to help candidates.
According to Ballotpedia, 98% of President Trump’s 322 endorsements have succeeded in their Primary elections so far.
Elijah's Mission
Elijah’s running on tackling the ongoing affordability crisis, protecting First Amendment Rights, cracking down on fraud, fortifying the U.S. military, ensuring a strong education system, and ensuring veterans get the best care they deserve.
Florida’s primary election is set to be held on Aug. 18, 2026.
