Congressional Candidate Thomas Chalifoux (R) reaffirmed his candidacy for Florida’s 9th Congressional District (CD) over the weekend, contributing $3 million of his own personal funds towards his campaign.
"This is the heart of Florida – farmers in Okeechobee, retirees on the Treasure Coast, working families in Kissimmee,” the retired Army Colonel said. “Florida's 9th District deserves a Representative who understands what a hard day's work actually looks like — what it costs to put food on the table, fill up the gas tank, and keep a roof over your family's head.”
Chalifoux’s announcement follows the state of Florida’s enactment of a new congressional map. Signed by Gov. Ron DeSantis, the new map redesigns CD 9, spanning from Kissimmee south into a large portion of the Florida Heartland.
This new design now covers rural zones like Indian River County and Moore Haven, while losing urban areas such as Orlando and the greater Kissimmee area.
"I've served this country in uniform. I've built and run businesses. I’ve signed thousands of paychecks. And I've watched as families get squeezed while career politicians like Darren Soto deliver nothing but excuses and partisan gridlock. That ends now,” Chalifoux affirmed.
In 2024, Chalifoux won the Republican nomination in CD 9 but lost to current U.S. Rep. Darren Soto (D) in the General Election.
Should Chalifoux win the Republican nomination once again in 2026, the former Osceola School Board member will once again be battling it out against Soto for the Congressional seat.
“President Trump and the Republican Congress are fighting to lower taxes, cut energy costs, and put money back in working families’ pockets. They’re winning,” Chalifoux stated, addressing one of the central issues of his campaign – Affordability.
“Florida deserves a member of Congress who fights with the President, not against him. I will be that member.”
