When President Trump addressed the American people this week following Iran’s response to General Soleimani’s death, he directed the blame at President Barack Obama, reminding the public that Obama had armed Iran and its terrorist network with cash that led to hundreds of lost American lives.

With that being said, Democrats and Republicans were at odds, with the former arguing that this does not fall on the Obama administration. Florida Rep. Val Demings (D), when speaking to the Floridian, commented that “what President Obama did has nothing to do, moving forward, with keeping us safe.”

Now, fighting back at Democrats that share the same sentiment, Florida Senator Marco Rubio (R) weighed in on the issue, saying on Twitter that “former Obama officials & their media protectors can howl all they want.”

The sunshine state lawmaker asserted that “it’s a FACT that as part of #IranDeal they delivered $1.7 billion in cash to Iran.”

Furthermore, Senator Rubio added that the Obama administration “did this even though Iran owes $55 billion in court-ordered payments to American victims of Iranian terrorism.”

At this time, it doesn’t appear that the United States or Iran will be moving forward with any more attacks, but the political atmosphere does feel the tension that has escalated.
