After Florida state lawmakers demanded an investigation into the Hope Florida Foundation, a Florida House committee convened to investigate any alleged fiduciary ties between the foundation and any political committee.
The legislative investigation led by Rep. Alex Andrade (R) ended, and now Leon County State Attorney Jack Campbell is allegedly looking into the documents Rep. Andrade delivered to his office.
Gov. Ron DeSantis wasted little time attacking the House, calling the chamber "rotten" out of the gate at a press conference in Pensacola.
Speaking of Florida lawmakers who may or may not have taken issue with Hope Florida, the 2024 Governor’s Cup golf fundraiser welcomed a handful of Republican lawmakers to take part in the event.
Reps. Jason Schoaf and John Snyder, and Sen. Jay Trumbull were heard screaming, ‘FORE!’
Other attendees to the event were the usual suspects—lobbyists, former staffers, and consultants.
According to records obtained by The Floridian, Hope Florida held the event at the Watersound Club in Panama City, where it raised a whopping $785,000 from the event while only having to expend $95,547.32 in costs, which is an astounding 7 times more than what it spent (7 to 1) for the event.
The $785,000 Hope Florida raised came from companies like The St. Joe Community Foundatiohn, Simply Healthcare Plans, Centene Management Company, and Tampa Electric.
Interestingly enough, the event was held right in the backyard of former Rep. Matt Gaetz (R), who has been critical of Hope Florida.
