Lawmakers from both sides of the aisle have begun to issue responses to President Joe Biden's (D) announcement that he drops from the 2024 presidential race. Democrats have begun to unify behind Vice President Kamala Harris (D), and and only have weeks before the Democratic National Convention to decide on the ticket that will lead them into November.
Miami-Dade County Democratic Party chairman Shevrin Jones (D) issued a statement shortly after the president announced his departure from the 2024 race. Calling President Biden "the greatest president of our lifetime," Chairman Jones added that "the nation is forever indebted and grateful for his years of service."

Chairman Jones went on to endorse Vice President Harris for President, calling her "the leader needed to meet this moment and defeat Donald Trump." "The Trump-Vance ticket is dead-set on taking away Americans' rights, destroying democracy, and doing the bidding of greedy corporations price gouging working families."
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R) chided the Democratic Party, accusing them of having "forced the Democrat nominee off the ballot, just over 100 days before the election." "Having invalidated the votes of more than 14 million Americans who selected Joe Biden to be the Democrat nominee for president, the self-proclaimed 'party of democracy' has proven exactly the opposite."
At this unprecedented juncture in American history, we must be clear about what just happened. The Democrat Party forced the Democrat nominee off the ballot, just over 100 days before the election.

The speak, addressing that the Democratic Party's prospects of winning with Vice President Harris at the top of the ticket are no better, he questioned why President Biden is still serving as President if he's not fit to run for reelection.
"If Joe Biden is not fit to run for President, he is not fit to serve as President. He must resign the office immediately."
The Clintons have released a statement, endorsing Vice President Harris, and Republican Vice Presidential candidate J.D. Vance (R) has echoed in Speaker Johnson's remarks, calling on President Biden to resign.
If Joe Biden ends his reelection campaign, how can he justify remaining President?
Not running for reelection would be a clear admission that President Trump was right all along about Biden not being mentally fit enough to serve as Commander-in-Chief.
There is no middle ground.
