It wasn’t long after decisively losing the Iowa Caucus election to former President Donald Trump, that Governor Ron DeSantis dropped out of the 2024 Republican presidential primary race.
Many political pundits believed that New Hampshire could have been Gov. DeSantis’s final “Alamo” stand against the former president, but DeSantis surprised everyone by abruptly announcing was quitting the race in a recorded video that was disseminated on social media.
"While I have had disagreements with Donald Trump, such as on the coronavirus pandemic and his elevation of Anthony Fauci, Trump is superior to the current incumbent, Joe Biden. That is clear," said DeSantis during his concession address.
Considering that he is arguably the most popular and effective governor in America, DeSantis will now focus on closing out his second term as governor and may have salvaged any chance he had to run for president in 2028.
DeSantis has said that he would not accept the vice presidential nod if Trump offered it, but would he take another position in the administration, if Trump defeats President Joe Biden or whoever becomes the Democratic presidential nominee for the 2024 general election?
Some of DeSantis’s online so-called “influencers” or social media hacks have floated the idea that the only reason DeSantis endorsed Trump after dropping out of the race was because DeSantis struck a deal, and or been offered a job within the Trump administration.
Considering that these online personalities all but embarrassed themselves and DeSantis by stating unfounded Democratic talking points in an attempt to dress down the former president, its hard to take anything they say seriously.
But if Trump were to consider tapping DeSantis to be in his administration, there is no other job I believe DeSantis would do a better job in than replacing Lloyd Austin as Secretary of Defense or Merrick Garland as Attorney General.
DeSantis is cut out for either job.
The Pentagon has become a “Woke” and progressive entity that has gone all in to support transgenderism and the use of pronouns, where DeSantis has taken on and defeated the progressive ideology at the state level.
Forget that DeSantis is a former Navy, but his bona fides in addressing the “woke agenda” and his support of law enforcement and the military as governor, is exactly what Trump would need to overhaul the U.S. military and address the projection of weakness that the current Biden administration shown to U.S. adversaries around the world.
"There was no greater honor than knowing I was wearing the cloth of my country when I served in the military, but our nation’s once-proud fighting force has been infected and paralyzed by a political agenda,” Governor Ron DeSantis said. “It is time to rip the woke out of the military and return it to its core mission. We must restore a sense of confidence, conviction, and patriotic duty to our institutions — and that begins with our military."
In addition, both DeSantis and Trump are on the same page of using the US military to take on the Mexican drug cartel in support of fixing the border crisis, so if DeSantis were to be named Defense Secretary, it is almost guaranteed that he would flex the full strength of the military against the cartels.
As for replacing Garland, well, millions of Americans would welcome the idea of DeSantis completely overhauling the Department of Justice.
Being Defense Secretary or Attorney would also give DeSantis a pulpit to run for president in 2028, and would surely help his chances of mending the bridge he burned with the MAGA base of the Republican Party.
