Florida Senator Marco Rubio has thrown a political grenade into the U.S. Senate by questioning Senate Republican Leadership's commitment to America, and calling for the upper chamber to postpone the leadership vote slated for next week.

“The Senate GOP leadership vote next week should be postponed First we need to make sure that those who want to lead us are genuinely committed to fighting for the priorities & values of the working Americans (of every background) who gave us big wins in states like Florida,” stated Sen. Rubio

Sen. Rubio’s statement is nothing less than a vote of no confidence against Senator Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, who has fallen out of favor with a growing number of Senate Conservatives like Sen. Ted Cruz.

Rubio's call for change echoes what fellow Floridian Rep. Matt Gaetz said earlier in the week about House Republican Leadership. Unlike Rubio, Rep. Gaetz named names, calling out House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy as being a “McFailure” in the 2022 midterm election cycle.

Earlier this month, The Floridian floated the idea that Senator Rick Scott, chairman of the NRSC, could be in a position to steal away the majority leadership away from Sen. McConnell.

Both Rubio and Scott are allies of former President Donald Trump, who has endorsed both men’s recent political efforts and is expected to announce his reelection campaign on November 15th.

During a rally in Miami, President Trump expressed is unwavering support for Rubio. Rubio is said to have helped Trump craft his Western Hemisphere messaging during his term in office.
