Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Angie Nixon slammed Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth as being "coked out" after he announced that the firing squad execution of Fort Hood shooter Nidal Malik Hasan will be livestreamed and viewable to the public while speaking to Jack Posobiec on Real America's Voice News on the deck of the USS Abraham Lincoln this week.
"Pete Hegseth is clearly coked out and thinks this is a video game," Nixon wrote on social media. "Democracy in this country has fallen. They are returning us back to the worst chapters of our history. Nidal Hasan should be held accountable, but his execution should not be entertainment at watch parties."
Nixon added on Facebook, "Folks are literally scheduling them across social media. This isn't just about punishment or stopping people from committing crimes. This is about conditioning members of this country to be blood thirsty. It's about seeing how far this government can go. How people of this country will react."
"They're conditioning us to fall in line with their descension into an authoritarian regime," Nixon continued. "This is not ok. I am done going high when they go low. It's time to get loud."
Nidal Malik Hasan was convicted by a military jury on 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted premeditated murder after killing 13 people and injuring 32 others during a mass shooting at Fort Hood in Texas in 2009. Hasan's execution will be the first military execution by firing squad since WW II and the first public execution in the United States since 1936.
"We'll make sure that people are able to watch it, that it's public, because people need to understand that this is - there's serious consequences for these types of things," Hegseth said.Â
Hasan's execution is scheduled for Dec. 3.
"Army major betrays his country. Radical Islamist kills a bunch of Americans at Fort Hood. Of course, we're going to do it at Fort Hood," Hegseth said. "Going to do it on a Thursday. We're going to do it at 1 o'clock, which is when he did it."
"It's going to be soldiers with rifles executing the firing squad," Hegseth added. "We know we know what it is. It was a radical Islamist attack in uniform inside the ranks, and so he's going to get a firing squad of soldiers, as it should be."
