As the last votes were counted, the Florida primaries came to a close. There are numerous closely watched races, and considering that the stages have been set for the November election, campaigning is expected to be even more aggressive.
Some results from Tuesday night's primary election include Florida Rep. Charlie Crist (D) with 59.7% of support defeating Florida Agriculture Nikki Fried's (D) 35.3% in support to attain the Democratic nomination in the November gubernatorial race. Fried has vacated her post, and the November race will now be between Senate President Wilton Simpson (R) and Naomi Esther Blemur (D) who gained 65% and 50% of support in their respective races.
On Twitter, Crist announced his victory by writing, "I'm Charlie Crist and I'm proud to be your Florida Democratic nominee that will defeat Ron DeSantis this November."
