Since the beginning of the COVID-19 vaccine rollout, Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL), has put great emphasis on prioritizing seniors and special populations.
This week, the governor celebrated a great milestone as Florida ranked #1 among all 50 states in vaccinating seniors.
Florida has not only become the only state to vaccinate more than 500,000 people over 65, but is also one of three states that have passed one million vaccinations.
In spite of the partisan criticism, Governor DeSantis still believes his vaccine roll-out plan is a success according to numbers.
'Florida remains steadfast in our commitment to putting seniors first and the numbers speak for themselves," said the governor, adding that the numbers, 'speak for themselves.'
Florida was the first state in the union to prioritize seniors, and because of its senior's first strategy, it is believed that Florida is the reason why the Federal Government recommends senior prioritizing.
Unlike most states, Florida has partnered up with Publix in an effort to distribute the vaccines. As a result, 242 Publix stores in 18 counties can legally administer the vaccine.
In addition, some 4,000 long-term care facilities have already been assisted in vaccinating their residents by the state.
DeSantis has also endorsed that residents get vaccinated by both the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines.
Recent news has broken with the new COVID-19 variant populating the US, in particular, New York and Florida.
