Mucarsel-Powell exposed again as Progressive after Obama endorsement

With the battle for Florida’s 26th congressional district heating up, high-profile endorsements are underway, and the most recent entry is President Barack Obama’s (D) endorsement of incumbent rep. Debbie Mucarsel-Powell (D).

Taking to Twitter to make the announcement, the Florida lawmaker commented that “President Barack Obama knows how important this election is in” the sunshine state.

She added that she is “proud he’s with me in this fight for good healthcare, jobs, clean air and water, and an economy that works for everyone.”

The endorsement comes after both the National Republican Congressional Committee and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee both released videos attacking rep. Mucarsel-Powell and her Republican opponent Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez (R) respectively.

In the 2018 midterm election, Rep. Mucarsel-Powell turned the seat blue, and now Republicans are looking to win back the seat in the upcoming 2020 election.

However, Democrats are hopeful that they will be able to maintain the seat, launching attacks at the Mayor’s handling of Miami-Dade County during the current COVID-19 pandemic.

But just as 'DMP' is trying to convince voters that she is still the same centrist-sounding Democrat that they voted for in 2018, her voting record and the support of Progressives like Obama, will not help her case.

Republicans are surely queuing up the anti-Obama/Mucarsel-Powell attack ad.
