President Donald Trump recently met with convicted election clerk and election denier Tina Peters at the Oval Office to discuss plans to seize ballots nationwide and conduct a hand recount during the 2026 Midterm elections, according to a report from The New Republic.

The outlet’s report follows statements from former U.S. Pardon Attorney Ed Martin on Real America’s Voice that Peters “was in the Oval Office meeting with the President on election integrity, and they were talking about the plans.”

When asked about the meeting, White House spokesperson Lauren Bis said, “We do not comment on private meetings that may or may not have happened.”

President Trump May Take Matters Into His Own Hands

According to Martin, however, the president is taking the matter seriously, adding that he may act unilaterally if Congress fails to pass the SAVE America Act, the election integrity bill that has failed to pass in the Senate.

“If the Congress won’t pass the Save AMERICA Act and they won’t, then the president’s going to have to do what he’s going to do,” Martin said.

Peter’s attorney, Peter Ticktin, corroborated Martin’s comments, confirming Peter’s proposal to seize the ballots, according to Colorado’s 9 News.

Ticktin Affirms Trump Won't Relinquish Power

“It’s a good plan, and I do think that something like that is probably going to happen,” Ticktin recently commented.

“So, he’s got nothing to lose, the nation has nothing to lose, it’s better if we’re going to have a civil war of any sort that it would be martial law with our side in control of the armaments,” Ticktin added, suggesting “Donald Trump is not going to relinquish control again.”

Peters' Conviction For Election Meddling

In Aug. 2024, a jury convicted Peters after prosecutors accused her of allowing an unauthorized individual to access voting equipment while searching for evidence of election fraud in 2021.

Peters maintained her innocence, arguing that she was trying to expose fraud in the 2020 presidential election.

She was released in June 2026 after Colorado Gov. Jared Polis (D) commuted her 9-year prison sentence.
