State House Candidate Elizabeth Holmes was recently joined by Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Angie Nixon for a canvasing event in her District 94 bid in Royal Palm Beach over the weekend.
The teamwork is arguably interesting for Holmes, given that Nixon is a self-described socialist and a member of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA). Some Florida Democrats, including gubernatorial candidate David Jolly, have tried to distance themselves from the socialist wing.

Holmes is also running against Rep. Meg "MAGA Meg" Weinberger (R-Palm Beach Gardens), one of Florida's more well-known representatives and a key-ally to President Donald Trump and his administration. Nixon is no fan of President Trump, calling for his arrest and impeachment on social media earlier this year.
"I can’t wait until Donald Trump is arrested and held accountable. I will definitely vote to remove him after becoming Florida’s next U.S. Senator," Nixon wrote.
Her assistance might put Holmes in a tough spot. Palm Beach County, and specifically District 94, might not have the progressive appeal as Orlando or Tallahassee - two urban centers with a younger demographic.
HD 94 covers western Palm Beach County and is more rural and agricultural. Rep. Weinberger won HD 94 with 55% of the vote over Democrat Rachelle Litt in 2024.
Rep. Weinberger was endorsed by President Trump in May.
"State Representative “MAGA” Meg Weinberger is an America First Patriot who is doing an incredible job representing Florida’s 94th State House District!" Trump wrote on Truth Social. "Meg is MAGA all the way, and has been with us from the very beginning, helping advance our AMERICA FIRST Agenda."
She has also been endorsed by Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL), who called Weinberger a "conservative fighter" in his support through a post on social media. Holmes' partnership with Nixon, at least optically, represents a stark contrast to that agenda.
The general election is Nov. 3.
