Lieutenant Governor Jay Collins says that only one name will make sure “to keep Florida free,” and that name is Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL).
The Lt. Governor, who previously ran against Rep. Donalds for the Republican nomination for governor, is now the latest political figure to endorse the gubernatorial hopeful. The endorsement comes after Governor Ron DeSantis announced his own endorsement earlier this month.
“Our mission right now is to keep Florida free,” the Lt. Governor said in a statement. “As Lieutenant Governor, I’m committed to protecting and preserving our freedoms for the people who call Florida home.”
“We cannot afford to turn that progress over to David Jolly,” Lt. Governor Collins emphasized, urging “Republicans to come together with a shared focus on winning in November and delivering for the people who call Florida home.”
Rep. Donalds thanked Lt. Governor Collins for his support, calling him “a man who knows what it means to proudly serve our country and our great state and who has sacrificed a great deal to protect our freedoms.”
“Republicans need to stand as a united from now more than ever,” Rep. Donalds urged.
Despite polls indicating that the Republican Party has the upper edge in the governor’s race, Jolly, a Republican turned Democrat who is vying to turn the top post in Florida blue, appears to be closing in on the election, causing some pollsters to reevaluate the election.
