The wait for Florida’s Primary Elections is approaching its end as voting is set to begin on Aug 18, 2026. For some, the countdown has officially lapsed as several counties across the Sunshine State have begun early voting for the General Election’s runners-up.
Starting Aug. 3, 2026, voters in Bradford, Calhoun, Hendry, Hillsborough, Jefferson, Miami-Dade, Monroe, Orange, Putnam, and Santa Rosa counties can cast their votes in the primary.
Will You Need Proof of Citizenship To Vote?
For the 2026 Midterm primary and general elections, the Florida SAVE Act will not apply, meaning that to cast a vote, all you’ll need is an acceptable Photo ID to vote in person.
Acceptable IDs include:
- Florida Driver License
- Florida ID Card (issued by DHSMV)
- U.S. Passport
- Debit or Credit Card
- Military ID
- Student ID
- Retirement Center ID
- Neighborhood Association ID
- Public Assistance ID
- Veteran Health ID (issued by the US Department of Veterans Affairs)
- Concealed Weapon License (issued pursuant to F.S. 790.06)
- Employee ID card issued by any branch, department, agency, or entity of the Federal Government, the state, a county, or a municipality.
Voters will be required to provide an ID with their signature.
What If You Don't Have ID On You The Day Of?
If a voter does not have an ID, they will be allowed to vote on a provisional ballot, which a canvassing board will later review to ensure voter eligibility.
Mail-In Ballot Request Deadline
If you plan on voting by mail, the deadline to request a mail-in ballot is Aug. 6, 2026, at 5 p.m. EST.
When Does Early Voting Begin For the Other 57 Counties?
Hardee, Highlands, Jackson, Lake, Levy, and Nassau counties begin early voting on Aug. 6, 2026, with Alachua, Citrus, Duval, and Osceola beginning the following day.
All other counties will start early voting on Aug. 8, 2026.
When Does Early Voting End?
Early voting for Bradford, Broward, Duval, Hillsborough, Leon, Manatee, Miami-Dade, Orange, Osceola, Palm Beach, Pinellas, and Sarasota counties concludes Aug. 16, 2026.
The remaining 55 counties’ early voting ends on Aug. 15, 2026.

The general election in Florida is on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026, with polls open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
