Cattle rancher and Republican candidate for Florida’s 9th Congressional District (FL CD 9), Ben Butler, recently celebrated his endorsement from Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.).

The incumbent Congresswoman’s endorsement comes just a week before Florida’s primary election.

“Florida needs more fighters in Washington who aren’t afraid to stand up to the establishment and put America First. I’m ready to get to work alongside you to deliver for Florida and President Trump’s agenda,” Butler wrote on X, thanking the Congresswoman for her support.

Rep. Luna's Affirms Congress Needs Someone Like Butler

In her announcement post on X, Rep. Luna praised Butler’s background and business leadership, affirming that Congress deserves a Republican who never backs down.

“Washington has enough career politicians, establishment Republicans, and people who talk a big game but fold when it matters. Ben Butler is different. He’s a farmer, rancher, businessman, and conservative outsider who knows how to work, fight, and get things done,” Congresswoman Luna wrote. “Ben will stand with [President Donald Trump], secure our border, defend the Second Amendment, rein in reckless spending, and take on the swamp rather than become part of it.”

The 9th-generation Floridian and ex-dairy farmer has promised to "clean up the bulls**t" in Washington once he gets into office, vowing to go after career politicians who “have spent years making promises they never intended to keep.”

Butler's Battle For Entering Congress

Butler has a big task at hand before entering office, as the challenger has to face off against 6 other Republican opponents in the primary before attempting to topple 5-term incumbent Rep. Darren Soto (D-Fla.).

FL CD 9 hasn’t had Republican representation since 2013.

Butler’s odds to face Soto in the General Election might be higher, given that this marks his third endorsement by an incumbent Florida U.S. Congressmember.

Reps. Greg Steube (R-Fla.) and Kat Cammack have previously endorsed the candidate.

Early voting for FL CD 9 has already begun in the district’s counties.

Florida’s Primary Election is set for Aug. 18, 2026.
