Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) shares her excitement and gratitude over her recent appointment to the U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee, acknowledging that it is a significant privilege to serve as a South Florida Representative on the panel.
Rep. Wasserman Schultz has left a deep footprint in Western Hemisphere politics, and now with a bigger bully pulpit to speak from, appears poised to continue advocating for free and fair elections in the region, and her push back against the Castro regime that has tainted Latin America.
“Obviously, international policy, foreign policy, is domestic policy in South Florida,” Rep. Schultz told The Floridian, recognizing the “huge diversity” within the community, which serves as a “gateway” to the critical issues in Latin America and the Middle East.
“It’s a really important position to hold, so that I could be in a stronger position to advocate on behalf of the issues that are important for the people in our community,” the Weston Democrat affirmed.
In early June 2026, the House Democratic Caucus appointed Congresswoman Wasserman Schultz to the panel, bringing “two decades of diplomatic and national security policy experience to the post.”
