President Donald Trump accused Iran of attacking the American Apache helicopter that crashed near the Strait of Hormuz, affirming that the U.S. must “respond” to the out “of necessity.”
“I have just been informed by our Great Military that last night the Iranians shot down one of our highly sophisticated Apache Helicopters while patrolling over the Strait of Hormuz,” the president claimed in a post on Truth Social.
“There were two pilots involved, both are safe and uninjured. Nevertheless, the United States must, of necessity, respond to this attack,” he added.
Unmanned AI Boat Saves The Day
The recent alleged attack on the U.S. aircraft off the coast of Oman resulted in two crew members having to be rescued by an unmanned Artificial Intelligence (AI) boat from the U.S. Navy’s 5th Fleet’s Task Force 59.
Iran Parliament Speaker Issues Statement Right Before Trump
According to CBS News, mere minutes prior to President Trump’s accusations, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Ghalibaf issued a preemptive warning, threatening to use aggressive measures should a retaliatory response be made.
"We prefer the language of diplomacy, but we speak other languages far more fluently," Ghalibaf posted on X. "Break your commitments, and we'll switch to what we speak best."
"You ride the horse you saddled!" he added.
Despite the timeline of events, it is unclear whether Ghalibaf’s statements were connected to the helicopter incident.
IRGC Commander Responds To Trump With Threat
The commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Aerospace Force, Majid Mousavi, additionally issued threatening comments after President Trump's post.
"Iran neither surrenders nor gets deceived," Mousavi wrote on X. "We do not trust the enemy's promises and rely on the power of the Iranian nation. What the enemy could not achieve on the battlefield, it will not obtain in negotiations either."
No Confirmation on the "Attack" Yet
In their statement, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed that an investigation had been launched to determine the cause of the crash, with no confirmation of what happened being given yet.
