Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) is calling on the American people to stop buying products from China to stop the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) from doing “bad deeds.”

Sen. Scott affirmed that the U.S. must hold “people [CCP] accountable" during an exclusive interview with The Floridian publisher Javier Manjarres. The Florida Senator referenced the crimes against humanity against the people of Tibet and the 1989 Tiananmen Square massacre.

“They’re killing our kids, they’re stealing our jobs, they're stealing all of our technology, they’re threatening our allies, like the Philippines and Taiwan, they’re lying about all the tariff stuff–they’re under–reporting the value of goods to get around the tariffs, so it's just a despicable government,” Sen. Scott added, listing CCP’s "despicableness."

Tibet Atrocities Act

As part of a recent effort to hold Chinese actors accountable, Sen. Scott co-sponsored a bipartisan bill alongside Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.) to “commemorate and honor the lives of Tibetans who have sacrificed their lives for the freedom of Tibet.”

The Tibet Atrocities Act also requires the Secretary of State to decide formally whether the CCP is committing genocide against the Tibetan population.

Scott Praises "Operation Southern Spear"

While praising President Donald Trump and the Trump administration for “Operation Southern Spear,” Sen. Scott additionally accused the “despicable” Chinese government of intentionally killing Americans with fentanyl.

“I want to thank the president for destroying the drug boats, because the fentanyl deaths have gone down quite a bit as a result of that,” the Florida Senator commemorated.

How Do We Reverse Chinese Overreliance?

When asked about how the U.S. can refrain from relying on Chinese products after creating an overreliance on items such as pharmaceuticals, Sen. Scott told The Floridian, “We should change. Start Today.”

“You know, we’ve made mistakes over the last thirty years, so what we should be doing is change. You should ask where your drugs are manufactured; you should ask where the ingredients come from – I’ve got a bill called the CLEAR LABELS Act; we’re working hard to get that passed this year; that will give you all that information – our military shouldn’t be relying on Chinese drugs, and we’re completely reliant on Chinese drugs,” he commented.

“There’s a study out of the University of Indiana that says you have over 50% increased chance of death or hospitalization if you take a drug with Chinese ingredients,” Sen. Scott claimed.

Sen. Scott’s claim stems from a Feb. 2025 study by Indiana University Bloomington and the Ohio State University that found generic drugs in India are linked to significantly more “severe adverse events” for patients who use them compared to equivalent pharmaceuticals produced in the U.S.
