WASHINGTON— Democratic Rep. Jared Moskowitz is confirming a rumor that has been circulating in that former Republican Mayor of Boca Raton and congressional candidate, Scott Singer, endorsed him during is first run for the U.S. House of Representatives in 2022.

We asked Rep. Moskowitz about the rumor several weeks back, but the moderate Democratic did not our request for comment, but he has now broken his silence on the rumor.

When we asked him about the rumor moments before he entered the House chamber to cast votes, Rep. Moskowitz affirmed that that Singer did in fact endorse him, saying that Mayor Singer did endorse his past congressional candidacy, but then asked him not to put the endorsement in writing or on political mail pieces.

The Floridian: Ther’s a a rumor that one year opponents Republican opponents mayor singer endorsed you is there any truth to that

Moskowitz: Actually that happened. When I first ran for Congress, OK, in 22, the former Mayor Boca then the Mayor of Boca, Scott Singer called me up and said, ‘I'm with you I'm going to endorse you ,you're you're going to make a great congressman, I want to help.’

And then two days later he called me up and he's like, ‘Hey the Republican Executive Committee is  mad at me ‘I'm gonna help you, I'm gonna be with you can you, but can you not put my name on anything.’ So yeah. he's  a real man of courage…”

This isn't the first time Singer is accused of endorsing a Democrat over a Republican in a race for public office.

In 2022, Singer was accused of endorsing Democratic state rep candidates Andy Thomson over Republican Peggy Gossett-Seidman in House District 91.

Then-Palm Beach County Republican Party Chairman Mike Barnett said that Singer's endorsement of Democrat Thomson was nothing more than "endorsing open borders" and "bloated government budgets," and tax hikes.

"I never endorsed Andy Thomson - not in 2022 or ever. I said that he knew our community and had served Boca Raton well. Months later, he used my comments in a release," stated Singer. "It was not an endorsement. That word was not used. Even he didn’t call my comments an endorsement."

In response to our request for comment, the Singer campaign categorically denied endorsing Moskowitz, stating that Moskowitz asked them for the endorsement, adding that the alleged endorsement reported in the Sun-Sentinel was addressed and "corrected" by Singer himself.

"Scott Singer was asked by Jared Moskowitz to endorse his congressional run. Scott told him no and never endorsed him. It was wrongly reported that an endorsement was made by the Sun Sentinel in a 2022 article. Scott immediately connected with the reporter and corrected this false statement," stated Carlos Cardenas, Singer's campaign manager.

During a Republican club meeting at the time, Singer is also alleged to have openly announced the endorsement he received from Democratic Rep. Lois Frankel.

In response to Singer's response, Moskowitz showed March 3/7/22 text messages between him and his team discussing Singer endorsing his congressional candidacy.

"He endorsed," read one text in the group chat The Floridian visualized.

Singer is running against former State Rep. George Moraitis, Joe Kaufman, and Dan Franzese, in the Republican congressional primary for District 25 that will take place on August 18.
