U.S. Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) announced her endorsement of Sydney Gruters in Florida's District 16 congressional race while speaking recently at the Republican Party of Pinellas County’s annual Lincoln Day Dinner.
"Sydney Gruters has my complete and total endorsement," Luna said. "She is a mom, a patriot, a proven conservative, and a fighter who has spent her career delivering real results for Southwest Florida. President Trump endorsed her because he knows she will stand with him to secure our border, lower the cost of living, and put America First. I look forward to working with Sydney in Washington to take on the swamp and deliver for the great people of Pinellas County, and I urge every conservative in this district to stand with her."
Rep. Luna represents District 13 and is considered a prominent voice in Congress. On The Hill, Luna serves on the House Committee on Foreign Affairs and the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.
Gruters announced her candidacy in April. President Donald Trump endorsed Gruters before her official announcement.
District 16 includes parts of five DeSoto, Hardee, Pinellas, Polk, Sarasota counties, and all of Manatee County.
Gruters thanked Rep. Luna for her endorsement.
"Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna is a mom, veteran, and one of the strongest America First voices in Congress," Gruters said. "Her endorsement means a great deal to me because she knows what it takes to fight for this region and deliver for people she represents. I look forward to standing shoulder-to-shoulder with her in Washington to secure the border, lower costs, and fight for families, seniors, veterans, and small businesses of Pinellas County. "
Luna's support follows the endorsement of House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) and members of congressional Republican leadership for Gruters last month. Gruters has also been endorsed by Turning Point Action and all five Florida sheriffs in CD 16, including Manatee County Sheriff Rick Wells and Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri.
