The Republican Party of Florida officially endorsed Florida Agricultural Commissioner Wilton Simpson in his re-election campaign for commissioner this week.
"A lifelong conservative leader, farmer, and former President of the Florida Senate, Commissioner Simpson has built a record of results fighting for Florida families, protecting agriculture, defending constitutional freedoms, and keeping Florida the nation's leading example of conservative governance," the Florida GOP wrote. "Endorsed by President Donald Trump and supported by conservative leaders across the state, Simpson has championed Florida's farmers and ranchers, protected Florida land from foreign adversaries, cracked down on illegal THC products targeting children, strengthened Second Amendment protections, and delivered major victories for conservation and public safety."
President Donald Trump endorsed Commissioner Simpson in October 2025.
Commissioner Simpson has been Agricultural Commissioner since January 2023. His current term ends in January 2027.
Simpson defeated Democrat Naomi Blemur by 19 points in his first election in 2022.
Florida's agricultural commissioner is the head of the state's agricultural industry, including regulation and support. The commissioner also provides food safety, oversees state forests, and manages consumer services, among other responsibilities.
Along with the Republican Party of Florida's endorsement, Simpson has been endorsed by 62 Florida sheriffs, including Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly just this week. Simpson has also been endorsed by Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd, Miami-Dade County Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz, Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey, Duval County Sheriff T.K. Waters, and Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco.
In addition, U.S. Rep. Scott Franklin (R-FL), U.S. Sens. Rick Scott (R-FL) and Ashley Moody (R-FL), and the Florida Farm Bureau Federation are backing Simpson in the race.
With the Republican establishment in hand, Simpson is likely the favorite in the race. Kyle Chaderwick Gibson, Richard Earl Olle Jr, Chase "Andy" Anderson Romagnano, and Matt The Welder are also running for commissioner.
The 2026 general election will be held on November 3.
