The Republican congressional primary race in Florida's 14th District could come down to who is the most loyal supporter of President Donald Trump, as both former Rep. Mike Beltran and current Rep. Kevin Steele (pictured) are trying to make the case for who is the most loyal Trump supporter.
Both men are early supporters of President Trump.
Rep. Beltran just announced that he was one of only 7 state Republican lawmakers who sided with President Trump since Day 1, while Rep. Steele is already spending a significant amount of campaign cash pushing his pro-Trump bona fides.
Defeating incumbent Rep. Kathy Castor (D) will be a heavy lift, and it will take the entire Republican universe to come together to facilitate that victory.
This race to replace Rep. Castor is at the top of the White House's wish list.
There hasn't been an official outside public opinion poll conducted in this race between Beltran and Steele, but according to one online betting site, Steele is the hands-down favorite to win the race.
According to the non-scientific online poll, Steele has a 69% chance of defeating Beltran, who is only polling at 1%. Dan Weldon is listed as polling at 18%.
Steele, who is considered by many to be the frontrunner, has sunk $2.5 million into this race, and Beltran has put in $1 million. For all intents and purposes, this could be a two-man race even though there are a handful of other candidates running to replace Castor.
And the big question is, where is Lt. Gov. Jay Collins in all of this?
