Republican congressional candidate Scott Singer announced this week that he has received an endorsement from U.S. Rep. Carlos Gimenez (R-FL) in his campaign for District 25.
Rep. Gimenez has represented District 28 since 2023. He was also the mayor of Miami-Dade County from 2011 to 2020.
"As Miami-Dade County’s Mayor before coming to Congress, I know firsthand that the job is not about rhetoric—it’s about results. It’s why I’m proud to endorse Boca Raton Mayor Scott Singer for Congress," Gimenez said.
Singer formally announced his run for Congress in District 25 in late April. He previously ran in District 23 before redistricting changes approved by the Florida Legislature and Gov. Ron DeSantis.
Singer was the mayor of Boca Raton from 2018 to 2026.
"Like me, Scott has had the honor of leading at the local level—where you don’t have the luxury of partisan talking points," Gimenez continued. "Mayors understand how to lead. We manage crises, balance budgets, support law enforcement, and make decisions that directly impact people’s daily lives. That experience makes us effective, pragmatic leaders—and Scott Singer has proven that."
District 25 is now a coastal district from Delray Beach in Palm Beach County through eastern Broward County to Miami Beach in Miami-Dade County. Gimenez's District includes southwestern Miami-Dade County and all of Monroe County.
"At a time when America faces growing threats abroad, we also need leaders who are clear-eyed on national security," Gimenez continued. "Scott understands the importance of standing firmly with our ally, the Jewish State of Israel, confronting the dangers posed by brutal regimes in Cuba and Venezuela, and pushing back against the spread of socialism in our nation."
Singer thanked Gimenez for his endorsement.
“I'm grateful for Congressman Gimenez's endorsement and his support of my campaign. Carlos is a friend and a successful former mayor himself, of Miami-Dade County," Singer said. "He continues to be a leader for South Florida interests in Congress. Congressman Gimenez knows that I will always stand with our strongest ally, Israel, support our local Jewish community, fight for our South Florida families, and be a strong voice against antisemitism. I thank him again for his support.”
Singer joins Republican Joe Kaufman, who announced his run to Fox News Digital. The primary is Aug. 18, 2026.
Reps. Jared Moskowitz (D-FL) and Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) are considering runs on the Democratic ballot following redistricting. Both currently serve District 23 and District 25, respectively, before the changes.
The general election is Nov. 3.
