South Florida Water District Governing Board member Ben Butler has announced the launch of his Republican campaign for Florida's 9th congressional district to unseat Representative Darren Soto (D-FL).
The congressional hopeful has already received support from Representatives Kat Cammack (R-FL) and Greg Steube (R-FL).
"Florida deserves leaders with real-world experience who understand the impact government decisions have on families, farmers, small businesses, and local communities because they've lived it themselves," said Butler in a press release. "I'm running for Congress to fight for Florida families, support our economy, protect our conservative values, and ensure the next generation has the same opportunities that made Florida such a great place to live and work."
Rep. Cammack lauded Butler as someone who "knows Florida because he's lived it, worked it, and fought for it his entire life. He's an America First fighter who will stand alongside me and many others working to advance President Trump's agenda in Congress."
"As a farmer, conservation advocate, and leader on the South Florida Water Management District Governing Board, Ben understands the balance between protecting our natural resources, supporting agriculture, and keeping our economy strong," Rep. Cammack continued. "He's the kind of conservative leader we need more of in Washington."
Similarly, Rep. Steube emphasized how "President Trump needs conservative fighters in Congress who are ready to back his agenda and take on the Washington establishment, and Ben Butler is exactly that kind of leader."
"Ben understands what's at stake for our country and will stand strong for secure borders, a stronger economy, American energy, and putting America First every single day," Rep. Steube continued. "I've seen Ben's commitment to conservative values and his willingness to do the hard work it takes to win. He's the kind of Republican who won't back down under pressure, and I'm proud to endorse him for Congress."
The primary will be held on August 18th.
