Representative Mike Haridopolos (R-FL) discussed the Iran conflict in a recent appearance on Fox Business's Evening Edit, saying "this is our opportunity, our hinge point," to end the threat of the Iranian regime permanently.
Oil and gas prices spiking as a result of the Strait of Hormuz being blocked has been the most immediate effect of the conflict for Americans, with gas prices averaging $4 a gallon.
Rep. Haridopolos is not denying it, saying, "Yes, we have got some turbulence with oil prices right now, but adjusted for inflation, that is still lower than the time period we had with Biden and Obama."
He reminded viewers that President Donald Trump has pushed the United States toward energy independence, "and luckily, we have moved in that direction to offset what could be even higher prices if the did not act."
Rep. Haridopolos also pushed the idea that "this is a time for the free world to come together and say, 'enough is enough.'"
The Florida congressman noted that Iran is the number one world sponsor of terrorism, adding that "every President before Trump said that Iran was a problem, but never solved it. The President is here to solve it. That is why we elected him in the first place."
Nevertheless, fears of the conflict becoming another "endless war in the Middle East" continue to persist, especially after Iranian officials denied Trump's claim that their new leader was seeking a ceasefire.
Trump posted on Truth Social that the unnamed leader was "much less Radicalized and far more intelligent than his predecessors," adding, "We will consider when Hormuz Strait is open, free, and clear. Until then, we are blasting Iran into oblivion or, as they say, back to the Stone Ages!!!"
However, the Iranian Foreign Ministry quickly called the claim "false and baseless."
