Gov. Ron DeSantis and several Republican and Democratic leaders celebrated Good Friday and Easter Sunday across social media this weekend.
"Wishing everyone a meaningful Good Friday as we commemorate Christ’s passion and death," DeSantis wrote.
Congressman and Florida gubernatorial candidate Byron Donalds (R-FL) also reflected on the meaning of Good Friday, writing, "Today, we are reminded of the debt Christ paid on our behalf, giving His life so that in Him we might have life," while quoting Isaiah 53:5.
"The debt we owed, He paid in full. The world's darkest day became our greatest hope," Donalds continued.
In addition, U.S. Sen. Rick Scott wrote, "This Good Friday, we pause and reflect on the sacrifice that Jesus Christ made for each and every one of us as we look to His resurrection!" while quoting 2 Corinthians 5:21.
Lt. Gov. and gubernatorial candidate Jay Collins also celebrated Good Friday, writing, "Today, we pause to reflect on the meaning of Good Friday, a day of sacrifice, humility, and unwavering faith. It’s a reminder of the strength found in service to others and the hope that carries us forward. Wishing you and your family a blessed and peaceful Good Friday."
Florida gubernatorial candidate and former Speaker Paul Renner (R) celebrated Good Friday and Easter, writing, "Good Friday is a day that makes you stop and reflect on the sacrifice, the grace, and what must have felt like a moment where hope was lost and death had won. Grateful it wasn’t the end of the story, and Sunday is coming. Wishing everyone a blessed Easter weekend."
Democratic gubernatorial candidate David Jolly celebrated Easter, writing, "I speak often on the trail about my faith. Not to evangelize, but because it's central to who I am. Happy Easter to those who celebrate. To those of other faiths, or no faith at all, our diversity and shared values are the heartbeat of this campaign. Thank you for your kindness."
