According to public records, President Donald Trump cast a mail-in ballot in Florida’s special election despite his public outcry against the voting method and his efforts to restrict the practice.

Records from the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections show that President Trump voted by mail in a special election for Florida’s 87th district statehouse seat on Mar. 24, CBS News reports.

Early in-person voting for the contest began on Saturday, Mar. 14, 2026.

Early voting ended on Sunday, Mar. 22, 2026, at 7 p.m. EST, with the president reportedly present at his South Florida estate during the period, according to The Associated Press (AP).

The county elections website confirms that President Trump requested the ballot on the same day early voting began. The site also confirms that it was received the following day, with his vote submitted and counted.

Tuesday’s ballot includes Florida state House District 87 and Senate District 14.

In an anti-crime meeting that took place in Memphis, Tennessee, on Mar.  23, 2026, President Trump expressed that "mail-in voting means mail-in cheating. I call it mail-in cheating, and we got to do something about it all." Additionally, President Trump endorsed Jon Maples, encouraging voters to cast their ballots in person in a Truth Social post.

“There is a very important Special Election tomorrow, Tuesday, March 24th, for Florida State House District 87 in beautiful Palm Beach County. ... TO ALL GREAT PATRIOTS IN FLORIDA STATE HOUSE DISTRICT 87: GET OUT AND VOTE FOR JON MAPLES! Polls are open from 7:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M,” He wrote.

President Trump did not mention that he had voted by mail.

The president has been a strong opponent of mail-in voting, claiming that the practice allows voter fraud to occur. He previously blamed his loss to former President Joe Biden during the 2020 Presidential Election on mail-in ballots.

President Trump has also urged Congressional lawmakers to pass the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, a proposed bill that would effectively ban mail ballots and enforce stricter voter verification in federal elections.
