The Republican Party of Florida announced its unanimous endorsement by the State Executive Committee of Attorney General James Uthmeier for a full term as attorney general in the November 2026 election.

“James Uthmeier represents the very best of our party and our movement,” Florida GOP Chairman Evan Power said in a release. “He earned the trust of Governor Ron DeSantis through his appointment as Attorney General and the endorsement of President Donald Trump by consistently delivering for Florida. This unanimous endorsement reflects the unity of our party and our shared confidence in James to continue leading and winning for Florida.”

In their release, the Florida GOP praised AG Uthmeier for his work "fighting federal overreach, standing up for victims, protecting parental rights, and ensuring Florida remains the freest state in the nation."

Gov. Ron DeSantis appointed Uthmeier to the post in February 2025. Since assuming the role, Uthmeier has prioritized public safety issues and enforcing illegal immigration policies under the governor's agenda.

In September, Uthmeier announced charges against 230 suspects in a seven-day human trafficking operation and sexual predator sting in Winter Haven. He also announced the arrest of several individuals allegedly connected to a drug trafficking operation in Palm Beach County in November.

In addition, Uthmeier led the way on several criminal illegal alien busts, including Operation Criminal Return, while also securing a conviction for an illegal alien for stealing and reselling trailers intended for victims of Hurricane Ian in December.

“The Republican Party of Florida is united and focused on winning,” Power added. “James Uthmeier has delivered for Florida, and we are proud to stand with him as he continues the important work of defending our state and our values.”

President Donald Trump endorsed Uthmeier in October. While the likely favorite Uthmeier is facing off against Democrats Jose Javier Rodriguez and Jim Lewis, as well as Republican Steven S. Leskovich, in the race.

The general election is set for Nov. 3rd.
