The race to replace term-limited State Rep. Chip LaMarca in Florida’s 100th house district continues to gain steam as Pediatric Surgeon Eric “Doc” Stelnicki has landed the coveted Florida Medical Association PAC endorsement for his campaign.

“The Florida Medical Association PAC is pleased to endorse GOP candidate and physician, Doc Stelnicki in his bid for House District 100,” stated President Andrew Borom, president of the political committee. “Dr. Stelnicki has a unique understanding of the issues impacting Florida physicians not only as a medical professional, but as a businessman navigating the myriads of regulations and obstacles that prevent doctors from practicing medicine. We look forward to working closely with him in the Florida Legislature.”

“I share the FMA’s commitment to common sense reforms that protect the physician-patient relationship, improve access to care, and keep healthcare decisions where they belong — with patients and their doctors,” he said in a statement,” stated Stelnicki in response to the how of support.  “I’m thankful for the FMA’s confidence in my candidacy and look forward to working with them to deliver real results for Floridians.”

While the endorsement is a significant accomplishment, the race is far from over. Stelnicki is in a very competitive primary election against attorney Yoni Anijar, former Lauderdale-by-the Sea Mayor Chris Vincent, and businessman Raul Gallon.

Stelnicki recently sat down with The Floridian to discuss his entrance into the race and talk about harrowing brush with death at the paws of a mountain lion in Wyoming.

Yes, a mountain lion almost did him in.

The winner of this primary race is expected to win the general election race in November.
