Representative Cory Mills (R-FL) is introducing a bill to rename the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) to the "China Budget Office" to highlight its constant obstruction of President Donald Trump's agenda.

As described in Rep. Mills' press release, the CBO's apparent obstructionism is not limited to President Trump. The Florida Republican argues that it has placed roadblocks to numerous Republican initiatives and policies, despite the fact that the CBO is meant to provide nonpartisan analysis of all legislative costs.

This obstructionism, Rep. Mills claims, also hinders support for warfighters, which, in turn, effectively supports America's adversaries.

Hence, by demanding that the CBO be renamed the "China Budget Office," the Florida congressman is accusing the organization of supporting China by default due to their anti-Republican bias in analysis.

"Washington cannot have an honest conversation about budgets, debt, or spending while relying on analyses by the CBO," Mills said in his press release. "Under President Donald Trump, the Congressional Budget Office was weaponized to stand in the way of the Trump Tax Cuts and Jobs Act and later to undermine efforts like the One Big Beautiful Bill, while at the same time drastically underestimating the true costs of things like the Green New Deal-style spending."

Rep. Mills emphasized that "these failures didn't just mislead people; they weakened American competitiveness. Communist China exploits those failures through supply chains, debt exposure, trade imbalances, and strategic leverage. This legislation forces transparency, restores accountability, and makes it clear that fiscal responsibility and national security go hand in hand. America should never base its economic future on models that benefit China at the expense of American families."

In June, Representative Brian Mast (R-FL) similarly railed against Democrats' partisanship during efforts to establish a ceasefire between Israel and Iran. He commented that "[Democrats] want President Trump to lose more than they might even want America to win on something. That is more important to those individuals; That President Trump loses than America be successful at things, even to the point of protecting Americans."
