Representative Byron Donalds (R-FL) utterly excoriated Representative Ilhan Omar (D-MN) for her "delusional" response to the fatal shooting of a woman by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent in Minneapolis in a recent appearance on Fox Business's Varney & Co.
Rep. Omar had discussed the shooting on CNN's The Lead, calling it "unlawful" and any attempts to explain it as self-defense "delusional."
As a result, Rep. Donalds' turned Rep. Omar's remark on its head, saying she is "delusional."
"I do not know what the hell she is talking about," Rep. Donalds continued, "First of all, ICE has a legal mandate from the federal government because deporting illegal aliens is legal in America. President Trump is following the law, unlike President Biden, who was flouting federal immigration law."
Additionally, the Florida Congressman emphasized that "you do not have the ability or the right to impede law enforcement, whether that is local law enforcement, state law enforcement, or federal law enforcement, from carrying out their duty under the law. You do not have the ability to do that."
Moreover, Donalds further noted, "Nobody wanted to see this woman killed yesterday, but the fact of the matter is, is that she turned her vehicle directly at a law enforcement official, and any law enforcement official is trained to defend themselves."
Finally, he pointed the finger at Governor Tim Walz (D-MN), Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey (D), and other officials for "fomenting protests against ICE officials."
"That is why these ICE officers are having to wear masks," Donalds concluded, "because they do not want their photos taken and then to be doxxed on social media, have their families harassed, have their children be harassed. They are trying to protect their identities so their families are safe while they are carrying out their mission given to them by Donald Trump, who has a political mandate to deport criminal illegal aliens. Rep. Omar is delusional. So is the mayor of Minneapolis, so is the governor of Minnesota. They are wrong, President Trump is right. ICE will continue the mission."
